Remove yourself from negativity

Remove yourself from negativity

Change the way you look at things and you’ll change the results.

So, we have all been here at some point before, in the rotational trap of negativity where the merry-go-round is spinning so fast we have lost sight of how to jump off. It can feel like there’s no way out, no way up, and no point in trying. But you know deep down that it doesn’t have to be this way (even if you feel completely overwhelmed right now, there is always a way out). Negativity doesn’t serve you, in fact it can hold you back from achieving greatness.

Sometimes we have people in our lives that are contributing the negative rotational loop without even knowing it. They’re the people that criticise every idea or decision you offer up, even when they mean well and want to help. You may have people in your personal or professional life who deliberately contribute to negativity (I hope not, but it does happen!).

No matter if the negativity if stemming from your beliefs, or the people in your life (or both), it can be difficult to let go of them, particularly if they’ve been an influence for a long time. Truth this, it’s hard to let go, but you must in order to move forward and achieve your goals.

The good news is we all have a CHOICE. The secret is choosing to walk away from anything that no longer serves you, grows you, or most importantly makes you HAPPY!!! This is one of the secrets to success.

Here are some simple tips to help free you from the negative cycle:

  • Choose to spend time with uplifting people who are smart, driven and like-minded,
  • Remember that relationships should help you, not hurt you,
  • Surround yourself with people who reflect the person you want to be,
  • Choose friends who you are proud to know, people you admire, people who love, respect and value you. Do the people in your life make your day a little brighter?
  • Take the time each day to think of 3 things that make you happy and 3 things that you are grateful for.

Removing yourself from negativity doesn’t mean that crappy things won’t happen. It just means that you will approach situations in a more positive way. Positivity attracts positivity, so believe that you will succeed, use positive language when talking, use words that evoke strength and success and most importantly don’t be afraid to FAIL (look at it as a First Attempt in Learning). Believe in yourself and your abilities, use your failures to better plan your path to success.

It sounds so simple doesn’t it? It is simple but often far from easy. Making changes is hard, confronting and at times very overwhelming. Change can be really hard at first, messy in the middle and awesome at the end. Shift your focus to letting go of negativity that is holding you back and start building the pathway to your future.
